Description:
Myonit SR - Sustained release tablets are preferred in long
term management of Angina. Due to the matrix technology, effective
concentrations are maintained for a prolonged period of time
& adequate nitrate free period is also maintained. Chances
of tolerance development are less due to this. The principal
pharmacological action of nitroglycerin is relaxation of vascular
smooth muscle.
Nitroglycerin
forms free radical nitric oxide (NO) that activates guanylate
cyclase, resulting in an increase of guanosine 3'5' monophosphate
(cyclic GMP) in smooth muscles and other tissues. These events
lead to dephosphorylation of myosin light chains, which regulate
the contractile state in smooth muscles and result in vasodilatation.
